Change in meeting times?

What's the deal with the change in meeting times?

Last I'd heard I thought we were talking about expanding the tuesday meetings maybe, not changing them to 6:00 only.  I don't know about anyone else, but that really doesn't work for me, and limits how likely I am to show up.

I was under the impression

I was under the impression that moving the church meetings to Tuesday had two functions: 1) to give the people who can not come on Thursdays a chance to embrace the squidwrench 'lets get together and do stuff' spirit and 2) to eliminate the twice a week meetings. Since the twice weekly meetings were arranged to give people with varying schedules the option of meeting earlier or later depending on when they had free time, making the once weekly meeting at the Tuesday time is not helping those who can not show at 6pm. It was never made clear (to me at least) that for the next few weeks we would only have meetings on Tuesday at a time that's not convenient for me- I have never been to a Tuesday meeting solely due to the start time, and when I was all for moving the meetings to only Tuesdays, it was only because as far as I knew they wouldn't start at 6.

Nothing that we're doing is

Nothing that we're doing is set in stone. We've had only Thursday meetings for the past four weeks and now we're having only Tuesday meetings for a few weeks. It happens to be convenient for Pat (who is the only reason we have access to the church) since Boy Scouts are done for the season, and at least a few people couldn't make the Thursday meetings. I'm definitely not trying to alienate anyone, and I'm sorry if that's what happens.

If we would like to extend the meetings and have a 6-11 meeting, which is what we'd discussed, I'm for it. In order to make that happen, we'll have to find a space to accomodate it. These Tuesday meetings at the church can probably run a bit long, but we won't really be sure until we have one (or two) and there's no guarantee. If you know of another space which will work, I'm open to suggestions.

Also, if anyone would like to set up any kind of recurring or ad-hoc gathering, I would stand behind that entirely. Anybody interested in learning Mandarin? Playing board games? Papercraft? Another "hang out & do" like we've been having on Thursday nights? Go for it. If you don't have permissions to create an event on the calendar, let me know and I'll straighten that out. If I can host anything at my house, I'll set it up. If we find a permanent space to get into, even better. I'm pretty sure we'll all benefit from having more than one opportunity to interact in any given week.

I agree- if I wanted to be at

I agree- if I wanted to be at squidwrench at 6pm instead of 9, I would have made the Tuesday meetings all along. It's good to get the people who can only do Tuesdays at the church doing squidwrench projects, but now you've alienated the Thursday people (at least me) who don't want to work a full day and go straight to squidwrench.
