DESCRIPTION:This is the first part in what we hope to be a many part series dealing with \n skills you will need in any coming apocalypse. We will be getting a gun \n safety course from Chris Algozzine on Thursday\, 10/13\, normal meeting place\, \n normal meeting time. There will be no actual shooting during this meeting. At \n some point\, we will meet at a gun club on a weekend and shoot under Chris' \n supervision. Chris is a firearms instructor (as well as IBM manager) Thor and \n I have known for years and he has shown me how to shoot once before so we are \n in good hands.\n \n Official blurb on Chris:\n Chris Algozzine\, NYS DEC Hunter Safety Instructor\, will be presenting a short \n introduction to firearms with an emphasis on firearms safety. This session is \n part of the course Chris teaches to new hunters\, and is intended to help us \n understand how firearms work\, how to handle them safely\, some firearms \n etiquette (for if you ever go shooting with friends)\, and the basics so \n you're more prepared when the zombies eventually show up at your door.So\, if \n you want to satisfy your curiosity about firearms\, or if you know enough to \n be dangerous and would prefer to be safe\, come to this week's class\, as Chris \n will be bringing several firearms for us to see\, hold\, and more importantly\, \n learn about in a safe and educational setting.\n \n So\, if you want to satisfy your curiosity about firearms\, or if you know \n enough to be dangerous and would prefer to be safe\, come to this week's \n class\, as Chris will be bringing several firearms for us to see\, hold\, and \n more importantly\, learn about in a safe and educational setting.

DESCRIPTION:This week we will have a special presentation on the Python library known as \n Scapy. From the Scapy website:\n \n >Scapy is a powerful interactive packet manipulation program. It is able to \n >forge or decode packets of a wide number of protocols\, send them on the \n >wire\, capture them\, match requests and replies\, and much more. It can easily \n >handle most classical tasks like scanning\, tracerouting\, probing\, unit \n >tests\, attacks or network discovery (it can replace hping\, 85% of nmap\, \n >arpspoof\, arp-sk\, arping\, tcpdump\, tethereal\, p0f\, etc.). It also performs \n >very well at a lot of other specific tasks that most other tools can't \n >handle\, like sending invalid frames\, injecting your own 802.11 frames\, \n >combining technics (VLAN hopping+ARP cache poisoning\, VOIP decoding on WEP \n >encrypted channel\, ...)\, etc.\n >\n The presentation will cover the basics of why and how to use Scapy. You will \n get a brief introduction to Python and networking\, and some exercises and \n hands on experience using Scapy.\n \n To get the most out of this presentation\, bring a computer with a working \n Python and Scapy installed. If you don't have any or all of those things\, \n don't worry. You're still welcome.

DESCRIPTION:Round one of Android Develepment Day was a huge success\, so we're doing it \n again. Once again\, bring your computer\, cable\, and Android device and let's \n help each other hack some Android apps. Almost everybody left with Hello\, \n Android running (and some got quite a lot further) so start thinking about \n what you'd like to do next. You can dive right into that project you've \n always wanted to do or just move on to the next levels of tutorial. If you \n need ideas or have ideas to share\, post them here [1].\n \n NOTE: This time\, we're assuming that people already have the Android SDK \n installed and have successfully written and run the equivalent of the "Hello\, \n Android" application. If you haven't made it this far these links should help \n you out:\n \n * Android SDK installation instructions [2]\n * Hello\, World tutorial [3]\n * The New Boston Android tutorials [4]\n \n As usual\, your search engine of choice will most likely provide you with \n many\, many more options. If you get stuck ask for help here [5]\, contact \n someone directly\, or just show up at a weekly meeting. Somebody should be \n able to help you get on track.\n \n INCLEMENT WEATHER PLAN: The Kershaw residence was an excellent place for ADD1 \n and they have graciously offered to host ADD2 also\, for which we are very \n grateful. They have warned us (and some of us have seen) that their driveway \n can be a smidge perilous in the snow. We are still working out an alternate \n location in the event that it snows before the event. Watch this space for \n updates.\n \n UPDATE: ADD2 will be held in the Old Laundry Building Room 205 on Vassar \n College campus.\n \n *Map and Instructions:* \n http://durandal.kismetwireless.net/~dragorn/images/vassar.jpg [6]\n \n It sounds like it is VERY important that you get a parking permit as you \n enter campus. You have been warned.\n \n FURTHER UPDATE: Joe has kindly created a page [7] with resources for Android \n Dev Day.\n \n \n [1] http://squidwrench.org/content/android-projects\n [2] http://developer.android.com/sdk/installing.html\n [3] http://developer.android.com/resources/tutorials/hello-world.html\n [4] http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL3D7BFF1DDBDAAFE5\n [5] http://squidwrench.org/forum/2\n [6] http://durandal.kismetwireless.net/~dragorn/images/vassar.jpg\n [7] http://squidwrench.org/android-resources
